Things You Need to Know Before You Start
- Be sure to add the unit (cm or inches) next to every measurement you write down.
- Take measurements without adding seam allowance; hold the tape measure snug but without gaps, and do not press it too firmly against your body.
- Wear your wedding shoes or shoes with the same heel height you plan to wear on your wedding day while taking measurements.
- For circumference measurements, ensure the tape measure circles your body completely and remains parallel to the floor at every point.
- Take your measurements while wearing your bra and thin, form-fitting clothing.
- For accurate results, we recommend following our video guide and asking someone to assist you.
What You Need to Prepare
A tape measure, a piece of thin string long enough to tie around your waist, your wedding shoes or shoes with the same heel height you plan to wear on your wedding day, and a pen and paper to take notes.
Measurements
1. Bust
Measure at the fullest part of your bust. The tape measure should be parallel to the floor and should not compress your chest.
2. Under-Bust
Wrap the tape measure directly under your bust. Keep your arms down and relaxed while noting the measurement.
3. From Above Bust to Under-Bust (Cup Measurement)
- Take this measurement while wearing your bra.
- Mianotti wedding dresses are designed to be worn without a bra; all our bustier-style bodices are crafted to provide a stylish and comfortable fit, eliminating the need for a bra.
- Measure by running the tape down from the top of the bust to the under-bust, centering it over the breast.
3a. Specify your bra size. 3b. Indicate whether you use a padded or non-padded bra.
4. Waist
Tie a thin string around the thinnest part of your waist and do not untie it throughout the entire process—it will serve as your reference point for the following steps. Measure in your natural state, without pulling your stomach in or pushing it out.
5. Hips
Measure at the fullest part of your hip area.
6. Waist to Floor
Stand straight and measure the distance from the reference string at your waist to the floor.
7. Shoulder to Floor
Stand straight and measure the distance from the top of your shoulder to the floor.
8. Shoulder to Bust Point
Measure the distance from the midpoint of your shoulder to your nipple.
9. Shoulder to Waist Point
Start from the middle of your shoulder, pass over the nipple, and measure down to the reference string at your waist.
10. Shoulder to Shoulder (Back)
Stand straight. Measure by connecting the midpoints between the top edge of the shoulder and where the arm begins across your back.
11. Shoulder to Shoulder (Front)
Stand straight. Measure the same midpoints across your front.
12. Neck to Shoulder
Measure the distance from the base of the neck to the edge of the shoulder.
Measurements 13 through 16 are for sleeved models only. If the model you have chosen is sleeveless, you do not need to send these measurements.
13. Sleeve Length
For long sleeves, measure from the shoulder point to the wrist with your arm hanging loosely.
14. Bicep
With your arm relaxed, measure at the fullest point between the shoulder and the elbow.
15. Elbow Circumference
Measure with your elbow slightly bent.
16. Wrist Circumference
Measure with your wrist straight and relaxed.
Please double-check your measurements before sending them.
There is a long creative process behind every design; we carefully determine the craftsmanship that yields the best result for each model. Therefore, we cannot make any customizations to our designs other than measurements and neckline depth.
